Anaga: Areas of Controlled Access

AREAS OF CONTROLLED ACCESS IN ANAGA

Anaga Rural Park contains three areas of special value: Ijuana, El Pijaral and Los Roques de Anaga Nature Reserves, which have been afforded the highest degree of environmental protection to guarantee the conservation of their fragile ecosystems. Monte de Aguirre, a rare ancient laurel forest, is also an area of controlled access.

ACTIVITIES IN THESE AREAS

Special permission is needed before visiting these areas: an application form must be completed (see under Downloads) and submitted with the required documentation before undertaking leisure activities (trekking, visits, sports events, etc.) in these areas.
Authorisation is controlled by the Registro Auxiliar de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo de Tenerife (Environmental Register)

AREA LOCATION

The file „Location” (see under Downloads) indicates the approximate location of these four specially protected areas.
Monte de Aguirre: this includes public utility area number 44, with the sole exception of the northern extension.
Roques de Anaga: Including the Roque de Tierra and the Roque de Fuera. The boundaries coincide with those of the Roques de Anaga Integral Nature Reserve, declared by Law 12/1994, on the Nature Areas of the Canary Isles.
El Pijaral: this includes public utility area number 46 located north of the road from El Bailadero to Chamorga, and several plots of lands to the north. The latter are included in their entirety in El Pijaral Integral Nature Reserve, declared by Law 12/1994, on the Nature Areas of the Canary Isles.
Ijuana: this comprises a sector from Punta de Antequera to Barranco de Anosma, which is included in its entirety within the boundaries of Ijuana Integral Nature Reserve, declared by Law 12/1994, on the Nature Areas of the Canary Isles.
