Dolphin Therapy

Dolphin Therapy

The Aqualand Costa Adeje dolphinarium in the South of Tenerife is one of the few centres in the world, and maybe the only one, to offer FREE dolphin therapy for physically and mentally disabled children. According to the technical director of the dolphinarium, dolphins can be used as a therapy aid.
The foundations of the programme have been developed by a technical committee and there are two modes: regulated therapy sessions (long period of time) and occasional sessions (12 to 15 consecutive days). Not all dolphins are suitable for working in the programme. Adult females are the best, as the males tend to want to dominate the group.
